Adding colour to the ordinary. OQEMA is proud to present Lanxess‘ range of colorant additives. Offering customers across Europe a wide variety of high-quality colorants under the brand names Bayfast®, Bayplast®, Bayscript®, Levanox®, Levanyl®, Levascreen®, and Macrolex®.
Outstanding product quality, long-standing technical expertise.
product details
Macrolex® dyes are soluble in organic solvents, e.g., aromatics, esters, and chlorinated hydrocarbons. They are insoluble in water and dilute aqueous solutions of acetic acid or alcohol. Not being soluble in water and alcohol is important for use in consumer goods, food packaging, and children´s toys made of coloured plastics, because the dye cannot run into the respective media.
Macrolex® dyes are available as:
Granulates (Gran)
Fine gran (FG)
Powder
product range and properties
Macrolex® dyes are suitable for colouring amorphous thermoplastics such as:
The Macrolex® range contains soluble dyes with following properties:
product benefits of Macrolex®
regulatory compliance
Macrolex® dyes meet the strict purity requirements of many applications.
product details
Our high-performance products are based on yellow pigments with excellent properties, which can be used in a broad range of applications. Product properties are adjusted specifically according to individual
requirements.
BAYPLAST®
Under the brand name BAYPLAST®, we sell high-performance pigments for plastics. Whether in polyolefins, PVC, or most engineering thermoplastics including PA6 and PA66, the application range is broad.
BAYPLAST® YELLOW 5GN01 key properties and advantages:
BAYPLAST® YELLOW G GRAN
The pigment Bayplast® Yellow G Gran is formulated in a unique microgranular form, which offers advantages over powders as listed below:
LEVASCREEN YELLOW®
BAYSCRIPT® YELLOW 4GF
The use of ultraviolet light for curing flexo printing inks offers many advantages and has become widely adopted, particularly in the narrow web label
printing industry. Ultraviolet (UV) rays are used to initiate the photochemical process, or UV curing, in inks, varnishes, and coatings. UV inks are made up of oligomers, monomers, pigments, additives, and photoinitiators. Eco-solvent inks have their colours suspended in mild, biodegradable solvents such as alcohols, glycol ethers, and lactates, instead of ketones and other aggressive solvents. As they have little odour, they can normally be used with indoor graphics and signage. Bayscript® Yellow 4GF can be regarded as an industry benchmark due to its mutual compatibility with both UV- and eco-solvent ink systems.
BAYFAST® YELLOW Y-5688
Bayfast® Yellow Y-5688 is based on the organic pigment P.Y.150. This grade is suitable for high-quality coatings for automotive and industrial applications. The product is mainly used for yellow, brown, and green effect
coatings.
Product properties and benefits:
BAYFAST® YELLOW E4GN
LANXESS organic Pigment Yellow E4GN (P.Y.150) is specially designed to provide the heat stability, lightfastness, and transparency properties required for laminate paper applications. The pigment finds its way into decorative papers for flooring, furniture, or kitchen surfaces by being formulated into various printing inks targeting these applications. Pigment Yellow E4GN is also available as the anionic water-based pigment dispersion Levanyl® Yellow E4G-A.

product details
Fine paste products from LANXESS are aqueous dispersions of organic pigments – Levanyl® – and inorganic pigments – Levanox®. All formulations are solvent-free and alkylphenol ethoxylate (APEO)-free.
LANXESS aqueous pigment dispersions combine high performance with easy dosing and mixing characteristics without the need for a lengthy grinding process. In addition, Levanyl® and Levanox® products combine
optimal colour strength, gloss, transparency, and intensity with a low energy and dosage requirement due to their small particle size and high pigment content.

LANXESS offers a complete range of water-based Bayscript® dyes for inkjet printing. The products are suitable for use in office printers (desktop) as well as in large-format printers and in industrial inkjet printing. Moreover, all Bayscript® colorants can be employed advantageously for high-quality inks in the office supplies industry.
Under the special dyes product family, LANXESS offers a wide range of watersoluble specialty dyes with high purity, specified surface tension, and high color strength for the stationery products industry. Pyranine 120%, a brilliant, strongly fluorescent yellow dye, is commonly used in inks for highlighters. The range also contains water- and solvent-soluble Nigrosine dyes.
Specialty Colors product family:
INJEKT PRINTING
Inkjet applications include small office and home printers (SOHO), largeformat printers for advertising and graphic arts prints, and high-volume industrial printers for marking, coding, and labeling. Colorants for inkjet
inks have to meet stringent quality criteria. Inks may be stored in cartridges for several months before being passed through tiny, sensitive nozzles under thermal or mechanical stress in order to form droplets of a defined size and shape. Key requirements are:
Besides the printing process, the colorants are an essential factor for print and image durability and have to provide:
INJEKT STATIONARY
Stationary in general includes all items needed for writing. Typical applications are writing utensils for everyday use, such as fountain pens, ballpoint pens, pencils, felt-tip pens, and fineliner pens. Other items are more likely to be found in offices, such as highlighters, whiteboard markers, permanent and non-permanent markers, and stamp pads. Many quality requirements for stationery colorants are very similar to those for inkjet applications and demand similar properties and quality standards. In addition, writing utensils and stamp pads need to display special features for special ink systems, such as document-proof inks, invisible inks, and erasable inks.
Specific requirements are:
Cyrene™ is a bio-based solvent that demonstrates circularity, sustainability and safety at every stage of its life cycle. From fossil-free non-food feedstock, to its recyclability and end of life disposal, Cyrene™ is a safer and more sustainable alternative to traditional toxic petroleum-based solvents.
applications
The application of Cyrene™ extends across multiple markets, such as pharmaceuticals, paints and coatings, polymers and plastics, electronics, carbon technologies, agriculture, speciality chemicals, textiles, automotive, cosmetics and more.
It is used in membrane formation, graphene dispersion, textile recycling, battery production and recycling, polyurethane production, extractive distillation, natural product extraction, cleaning and paint stripping, monomers for polymerisation, coatings and recrystallisation. Trialled in over 1,000 industry applications with over 150 published scientific papers, Cyrene™ has been shown to outperform traditional aprotic solvents in ~25% of industrial tests to date. Selected applications are described below.
carbon black and graphene
Cyrene™ suspends and disperses particles and nano particles with higher concentration of loading and distribution, up to ten times better than industry leading solvents.
membrane technologies
Cyrene™ has been used extensively to produce membranes with a controllable range of pore sizes for separation applications, including water purification and gas separation. The processes have resulted in less polymer loss, greater porosity and increased thermal stability than NMP membranes, whilst allowing for the inclusion of high amounts of additives, such as graphene.
paints and coatings
Cyrene™ biocompatibility, non-corrosive nature and antimicrobial properties make it ideal for use in the paints and coatings industries.
